Have you ever wonder what is really graphic design? To be a graphic designer you need to have the ability to problem solve through the use of type, space, image and color. A graphic designer needs to have art skill to combining text and pictures in order to advertisements or express an idea thru pictures and drawings. During the early 20th century graphic design became more popular, because it was used for propaganda or to convey a message with arts instead of words. Today graphic design is used in our daily lives for everything from advertising, books, magazines, movies, music and much more. To become a successful graphic designer you need to have creativity and desired to strive and always improving even if you don't think there is nothing to be improved. Some examples are Sean Adams and Margo Chase.

            Sean Adams is currently a professor at the Art Center College of Design and the founder of Burning settlers Cabin website and studio. As a professor he encourages his students to always improve.  In the video that was showed in class on Wednesday, Sean talks about some of the important quality a good graphic designer needs to have. One is that you need to be welling to change the way you work because the technology is always progressing.  He also mentions that creativity is a huge role as well as the ability to come up with ideas and being a good listener will help to become a good designer. Having a clean portfolio is essential for every graphic designer because that is the way you can let yourself know. 

          We also had the chance to watch some clips on Margo Chase, who currently owns her company as Chase design group. In here early stage of her career she work for music companies   decided to move on and currently works for huge companies creating logos, designs, fliers and much more. In the video she describe the importance of drawing, a good graphic designer doesn't goes straight to the computer and starts creating a design instead he/she needs to create sketches and work from does sketches. There are some step a designer need to do as describe by Margo; find and solve the problem, do some research on the product, make sketches,  come up with ideas, convert does ideas into digital art work, revise and improve. Both videos show two really creative and successful people, and both gave me a new perspective of what a real graphic designer is and what it take to become a successful designer.
